Marvel Legends Infinite Series Wallgreens Exclusive Jim Lee’s Punisher

Greetings fellow collectors!

As I promised on my last review, for this occasion I’m reviewing another 6 inches Marvel Legends Infinite Series figure. This figure has been released for a while but still relatively new, it’s the Wallgreens Exclusive Jim Lee’s Punisher! For those who never heard of Jim Lee, he is a very famous comic book artist you could find out about him more in this link.

Jim Lee’s version of X-men is my favorite version of X-men, since it was the first version of X-men I’ve known. Well as for the Punisher, I happen to like the Marvel Now version better, but for a Punisher action figure, this figure is definitely my choice, we’ll see soon why.

First, as usual, we’re taking a look at the packaging. This Punisher is packed with today standards Marvel Legends Infinite Series packages. The package looked good, we got artwork of Jim Lee’s style Punisher at both sides.

01.jpg

From the back of the box, we knew that this Punisher figure is released as a part of BAF Rhino wave. Just like another Wallgreens Exclusive, Marvel Legends Infinite Series Agent Venom figure which is a part of Ultimate Green Goblin wave, most exclusive Marvel Legends figures such as this one were released as a part of a distinctive wave, even though it released individually a few moments after the regular figures were released.

Okay, let’s open this figure, let it free! (Yeah I’m definitely not a MOC/MIB collector!)

02.jpg

Just like all the newer Marvel Legends Infinite Series, this Punisher action figure is well packed inside a plastic clam in the inner box. Here’s something interesting, take a look at the background of the inner box, unlike other figure from its wave, it has The Punisher logo! Nice touch to make this Wallgreens exclusive release feels even more exclusive.

Okay, let’s loose the figure and see what we’ve got!

03

This Wallgreens Exclusive Punisher is based on the Jim Lee’s version of the character and it is a really good looking, almost spot on action figure of Jim Lee’s Punisher. The paint apps are really good and pretty neat, especially on the Punisher logo and the strap. Take a look at the details and paint apps on the shells and grenades!

This Punisher figure made good use of Grim Reaper body mold, so we got a decently build but not over bulk Punisher here,  good proportions!

Now we’ll take a closer look.

04.jpg

The headsculpt is nicely painted and detailed! Love the bandana and gritty expression, it is a good attempt of turning Jim Lee’s Punisher into an action figure! I’m also using this head as my main Punisher head.

05

The alternate headsculpt also looked pretty good. Love the five o’clock shadow details on the face but just like some people out there I don’t like the smirk. I’d rather got another gritty expression or stern, serious looking punisher. Still, not a bad alternate head though.

Enough about looks now let’s see about the articulations.

The figure is well decently articulated just like what you expect from today’s Marvel Legends. The range of motion is quite good in general, as for the joints you could see on the picture bellow.

08.jpg

As I stated on my previous review, from now I’m going to post a comparison shot of the figure in review with the one’s I’m using as the ‘standard-sized’ figure, for Marvel Legends, meet Monsieur Batroc!

09

Why Batroc The Leaper you may ask? Well, Batroc figure utilized one of the most used body for Marvel Legends these days, the Bucky Capt body mold. That particular body mold is also used for various medium or normal sized character (Black Panther, Archangel, Batroc, and many more etc…) so it’s suitable enough for a standard-sized figure.

Okay, as you could see on the picture bellow, we’re getting a decent sized Frank Castle figure here. The figure is quite tall and muscular but not gigantic, we’re getting a decently sized Punisher here!

10

A cool looking, decent sized, and well articulated Punisher figure should came well equipped with accessories. Just our luck, this guy is packed with firepower!

11

Marvel Legends Infinite Series Wallgreens Exclusive Jim Lee’s Punisher came with:

– 1 Alternate head.

– 1 Automatic shotgun

– 1 Machine gun

– 1 Rocket launcher

Just like any figure labelled ‘Wallgreens Exclusive or such, Jim Lee’s Punisher figure came with no BAF parts but packed with more accessories than its regular released peers. Still, I found it kind of strange that this Punisher figure doesn’t come with any pistols and its holsters. The machine gun and rocket launcher are well painted and detailed, but the automatic shotgun is strangely painted in white. Meh.

Okay, you may see on the pictures bellow that you could pose the Punisher with its given weapons well, but the figure is clearly missing something. It is missing something that really really bugged me…

12

Good posing aside, the figure had NO TRIGGER FINGER! And this is supposed to be a Punisher figure? Without trigger finger on its hand? Come on!

Just so you know, all the weapon wielding poses above would looked way better if only the figure had trigger finger.

There is a peg on the rocket launcher that could be plugged unto the peghole on the back, so the figure could carry its rocket launcher like these pictures bellow.

13

You could also make the figure carry all three weapons at once just like the picture bellow

14

Here I am showing you one way to display your Marvel Legends Infinite Series Wallgreens Exclusive Jim Lee’s Punisher figure with its alternate head and weapons from Epic Heroes X-Force Deadpool.

15.jpg

Summary: (8/10) This is a Punisher figure for you! Especially if you love Jim Lee’s style!

Pros:

(+) Good design, paint job and details both on the figures and accessories.

(+) Good working accessories and alternative heads.

Cons:

(-) No trigger fingers for a Punisher figure? Bummer. Wish the figure came with interchangeable hands, trigger finger hands and fisted hands.

(-) The given accessories are good, but additional pistols and its holsters would be even better since this is an exclusive release.

Thanks for reading my review fellow collectors, as always I do welcome feedbacks.

Next would be another Marvel Legends Infinite Series review of a highly anticipated figure, stay tuned. 😉

Here are some shots that I did with my Punisher figure, enjoy!

P-Bandai High Grade 1/144 YZ-R28-SR[FH] Ez-SR-FOXHOUND

Greetings fellow collectors!

Just like I told you in my previous review, this would be the first time I’m reviewing something that’s technically not an action figure. Yeah, this time I’m reviewing a gundam plastic model kit or gunpla for short. I won’t explain much about gunpla, its grades, and other terms, as it would require me to write a whole post about it, so please kindly go to this link for complete information.

And for this occassion, I’m reviewing a relatively new but has been released for a while kit from a P-Bandai High Grade 1/144 scale Gundam Build Fighters Line, YZ-R28-SR[FH] Ez-SR-FOXHOUND. P-Bandai is a limited premium gunpla kit which released with the regular ones. P-Bandai line usually contained kits of unique mobile suits or variants/reimagining such as this Ez-SR FOXHOUND which is a designer’s variant of Ez-SR MAXIMA.

As you could see on the picture bellow, you could know if a gunpla kit were a reguler or a premium P-Bandai from the box, P-Bandai boxes are usually have monochromatic color schemes while the regular released boxes have colorful box art.

01.jpg

Okay, let’s open the box and see what’s inside. The runners are quite many for a High Grade 1/44 kit, almost as many as a Real Grade 1/144 kit, almost. There are no clear parts save for the beam sabers and there is quite a lot number of stickers. Ughh..

02.jpg

I’ll skip about the building progress, just showing you the finished kit here. The building progress was quite easy for a High Grade 1/44 but the detailing did need some effort, especially if you were to apply all the stickers, some of them were tricky to put on. Sorry if I didn’t say anything about painting on this review since I do not paint all my 1/144 scaled gunplas.

Okay, as you could see below it’s a cool looking kit! Clearly it has been heavily customized from the original mobile suit it was based on. It also didn’t look like a ‘grunt suit’ to me, but while you were building this kit, some of the white parts are actually white stickers covering angled part, it could be tricky to apply.

03.jpg

Let’s take a closer look, the head part looked cool and definitely not grunt-ish. The kit actually came with a quite number of alternative parts, including alternative head. But for review, I’m bringing you the straight-build version.

04.jpg

Okay, from this review onward, I’m using a figure or a model kit as a ‘standard size’ for comparison to the ones being reviewed. Since this is the first time for a model kit review, let me introduce the ‘standard size’ I’m using for the current and future 1/144 gunpla review, the grunt of grunts HG 1/144 Hi-Mock from Gundam Build Fighters line.

05.jpg

Okay as you could see in the pictures bellow, the Ez-SR FOXHOUND stands almost a head taller than the Hi-Mock. It has a non-bulky mobile suit proportion and mostly symmetrical design save for its knees.

06.jpg

Moving on to the articulations, even though the snap-fitted gunplas are generally a bit fragile as the parts aren’t as ‘permanently put together’ as action figures, the articulations are really good, as you could see on the pictures bellow.

07a.jpg

Moving on to the accessories, Ez-SR FOXHOUND is packed with

  • Electromagnetic knuckle (Mounted on both forearm covers).
  • Beam rifle (There’s an optional to make it into short barreled or long barreled, the one shown in this review is just like the one you could see on the box art, the long barreled version).
  • 180 mm cannon (Could be mounted on either forearm covers or in a peghole on the shoulders).
  • Shield (Could be mounted on either forearm covers).
  • Shoulder-mounted missile launcher.
  • Two beam sabers.
  • Beam sabers holder (Could be mounted on either forearm covers).
  • Interchangeable hands (Trigger finger hands for holding beam rifle and palmed hands for holding beam sabers).

In my opinion, eventhough the kit itself doesn’t look gruntish, the weapons and accessories are.

08.JPG

That’s quite an arsenal for a single mobile suit and a big backpack we got here, wondering if the kit could hold them all properly? What about the balance of the kit while it stands holding all those accessories? Let’s take a look at this particular issue one at a time

First, the sizeable backpack, it snap-fitted quite good to the kit and to my surprise the kit could still stand perfectly, great balance!

09.jpg

Let’s add another thing to the kit, the shoulder-mounted missile launcher. Looked good, menacing, and still not disturbed the balance of the kit while it stands.

10.jpg

Next, this is how you could put the shield or the beam saber holder alternatively. No issues to the kit’s balance yet.

11.jpg

And now I’m putting the canon on the forearm covers with all other parts in place. Impressive balance for this model kit.

12.jpg

Even with all the parts above, the kit could still held the beam rifle well with no significant issue of stability.

13.jpg

As you could see on the picture bellow, you could do many variable poses with all those gears on. This is certainly helpful if you were a toy photographer.

14.jpg

Since the kit is packed with many accessories, there are a lot of possibilities of how you pose your kit in display, this is how I display mine, I took the beam rifle off for the sake of preserving the hand joint. The beam saber are way lighter than the rifle so putting it unto the left hand would be safer.

15.jpg

Summary: (8.5/10) Another cool looking kit from the premium P-Bandai line!

Pros:

(+) Unique design for a customized grunt kit, fitting for a P-Bandai line.

(+) Packed with a lot of accessories.

(+) Great articulations and motion range, the kit is also really stable even in fully geared mode.

Cons:

(-) Keeping the kit in fully geared mode for display might rupture the joint.

(-) There are a lot of parts that require a lot of sticker coverings, well stickers don’t stick forever, especially when you like to pose your kit a lot, just be careful.

Thanks for reading my review, since this is my very first gunpla review in this blog, I would really appreciate all your feedbacks.

For my next review, I’m back to reviewing something from the ever growing Marvel Legends line!

As usual, I’m sharing some shots I took with my P-Bandai High Grade 1/144 YZ-R28-SR[FH] Ez-SR-FOXHOUND.

Glitch Sixth Vision Bonehead Black Death

Greetings fellow toy buddies, and Happy Eid Mubarak to all who celebrate it!

After a long vaccum I’m back with another review here and this is the first one sixth scale (12 inches) action figure I reviewed in my blog. The figure came from a relatively new company called Glitch. The series is called Sixth Vision which also included the God Complex line and the figure itself is called Black Death from the Bonehead line. I just found out that this figure is designed by a fellow Indonesian.

Okay, now let’s take a look at the boxed figure. The box is really nice and compact for a 1/6th figure box, reminds me of a 3a boxes. The design of the box is also cool, featuring the art of the included figure and some information about the toyline and the designer.

01.jpg

Now let me open this goodness. The packaging is somewhat 3A-ish as you can see but it worked out nice in keeping the figure and accessories safe. As you could see, the figure packed in a clamshell and came with two weapons and some interchangeable hands, and a A5 or postcard sized art.

02.jpg

Let’s take a closer look to the postcard, the art is really cool! I love the art!

03.jpg

Okay, now I’m moving to the figure itself, as you could see the hoodie is detachable, well for a one sixth scale figure, basically almost every clothing is detachable, with some efforts of course.

The t-shirt has a really cool design and it has a inner long sleeve gray t-shirt under it. The body has good proportion in all part but the neck, as you could spot in the picture bellow, there is kinda big gap between the neck and the head. Too bad, the gap aside in my opinion the body is perfect.

04

Now I put the hoodie back on, the figure looked even better. The hoodie did cover the strange gap between the neck and the head. The zipper on the hoodie worked well, you could go for zipped or unzipped look easily. The hood part also had bendable wire inside it, so you could set it to closed or open hood pose and it would still looked great! As a plus. the design of the hoodie is also awesome!

05

Okay, now we’re taking a closer look to the headsculpt. The Bonehead Black Death got it’s namesake for the unique helmet he’s wearing. As you can see in the picture bellow, the bonehead is well sculpted, detailed, and painted. I really love the design of this Bonehead helmet!

06

Now let’s compare the size with other one sixth scale figure, for this I’m using Sideshow Commander Gree which is my very first one sixth scale figure. The Bonehead Black Death is well matched with other one sixth scale figure, so you could put it in display with other one sixth scale figures without worrying about height miss-match or such.

07.jpg

Moving on to articulations, the articulations are really good, just like what you expected from a one sixth scale figure. Another big plus is, unlike some one sixth scale figures, the articulations are not hindered or blocked by the clothes or other parts, the figure has a really good range of motion.

The figure is also very well balanced, kinda feels like a 3A one sixth figures, you could pose it in standing position for quite a long time without using any stand to support.

08.jpg

Okay, now we’re moving on to the accessories. Apart from the clothes and hoodies, Glitch Sixth Vision Bonehead Black Death came with:

– 3 pairs of interchangable hands.

– 1 buster sword (It’s officialy called a mech slayer).

– 1 customized baseball bat with hidden blade.

– 1 set of spare hand joints.

– A5/postcard sized printed arts.

09.jpg

All the weapons are made of die cast metal and very well painted. As  the buster sword, I do recommend some caution because even-though it’s made of metal, it’s kinda thin and it’s prone to break or bent if you weren’t careful.

Okay, let’s try to pose those weapons on the figures! First, the customized baseball bat. The baseball bat has very nicely detail and has a hidden blade inside it, you could pull it out by pulling the handle part of the bat slowly.

10.jpg

Next, my favorite, the buster sword or the mech slayer! The figure could held the mech slayer sword quite well but not perfectly, the given sword grim hands are simply not sturdy enough to hold such big sword in place for a long time, for some poses in this review, I used some tack it to help with the posing.

11.jpg

Okay, now this is one way to pose your Glitch Sixth Vision Bonehead Black Death for display.

12.jpg

Summary: (9/10) Great cool looking urban style figure with high playability!

Pros:

(+) Good material quality, paint job and details both on the figures and accessories.

(+) Great articulations and motion range, the figure is also really stable for a one sixth figure, able to do much posing without support.

(+) This is a bit subjective but the overall design of the figure is really cool.

Cons:

(-) The gap between the head and the neck is too big, it looked awkward without the hoodie.

(-) The given hands aren’t sturdy enough to hold the weapons, need some support or tack-it for better posing.

Thanks for reading my review and all your feedbacks are really appreciated.

The next review would be a first non-action figures item. Stay tuned. 😉

These are just small examples of some toy photography you could do with Glitch Sixth vision Bonehead Black Death.

Oritoy Acid Rain World Laurel (Marine Type)

Greetings fellow collectors!

How’s 2016 been treating you so far? Good I hope, since this year we’re having so many action figures from so many lines released!

Just like I said from my previous review, this will be the first time I’m reviewing a vehicle, (a mecha to be exact) and its pilot. If you were following Kit Lau’s Acid Rain World line from the very beginning, you should have known by now that the strong points of this particular line are its cool looking and very well-made transformable mechas and vehicles.

This particular review is long overdue, but I hope it would still be useful for those new to the Acid Rain World line.

The earliest vehicles released for this line, Stronghold and Speeder Mk. 2 are among my prized possession, the later released Speeder Mk.1 ‘Raptor’ are also another great additions to your Acid Rain World army.

After three successful transformable vehicles, finally the Acid Rain World line got it’s first new true mecha, the Laurel. The first mass produced version is the Laurel Marine Type, let’s take a look at the boxed goodness!

01

The packaging is great as always, it has an illustrated art of the Marine Laurel, and the ‘go feel it’ hole, as you could see bellow. The idea of this particular feature is for you to feel the ‘rustiness’ of Acid Rain World mechs.

02

I’ve opened the outer box. The Laurel Mech and the Marine pilot are well packaged, as you could see bellow. The package also included an illustration of the Marine Laurel which also contain manuals for your mech.

03

The Laurel Mech and the Marine pilot are well packaged inside the styrofoam box. The package also included an illustration of the Marine Laurel which also contain manuals for your mech.

Now that I finished opening them all, let’s take a look!

04

The Marine type Laurel came with a Marine pilot figure and two weapons, as you see on the picture above. Since the main star of this review is the mecha itself, I’d be brief about reviewing the pilot.

The Marine Pilot figure uses the standard Acid Rain World body with a brand new head sculpt, vest and helmet. I have four Laurels and all the Marine Pilot figure came with unpainted heads, I wonder if any of you were getting a similar figure, or better a painted one, please inform me!

The Marine Pilot is as well articulated as the Sol Commander figure. You could poses it freely without being restricted by the vest, as you could see bellow.

05

The helmet is the interesting part, you could open up the visor just like the picture bellow. Love the skull decal also, it looked great.

06

Now let’s get back to the Laurel. I’m gonna focus on the figure itself, but if you wanted to know more about Laurel, its backstory, etc,  you could check this link.

The Marine Laurel is very neatly painted and nicely weathered or rusted in Acid Rain World style. It has the green dominated ‘Marine’ color scheme just like the Marine Stronghold or the Speeder Mk. 1 Raptor. It also bears the decal of 303rd Marine Division on its front torso.

07

The Laurel mech has a simian-like appearance, long hands and short legs. As for the overall mech appearances and design, I’ll let you judge it according your personal taste. It looked a bit odd and clumsy to me too and that open cockpit area did bug me, but as a mech figure, it is very well articulated and well balanced for various poses. Imagine things you could do, shots you could’ve taken with such good articulations!

09

Okay, since it’s a manned mech, before we go to review the arsenal, let’s  review the one thing some of you have been asking while reading this review, how good the pilot fit inside the mech…?

Well, this Marine Type Laurel has some interesting feature regarding that issue. I’d show you in steps. At first, it has a retractable pad on… the area where a crotch supposed to be… that could support the mech in a stand by or maintenance mode.

09

Take a look at the back of the Laurel, there is a sort of panel that you could pull or push. Pull the panel to open the upper cockpit and the torso part, vice versa. You could also pull out the upper cockpit and the torso without using the panel though.

10

Now let’s try putting the pilot figure inside the mech. From the picture bellow you could see that the Marine Pilot figure fit perfectly inside the mech. There are two adjustable control rods inside the mech, you could slide it over to put your pilot figure and slide it back when the pilot is seated. Really nice!

11

Okay, let’s move on the arsenal now. It is a military figure so let’s see what kind of weapon we’re ended up with. Laurel Marine Type came with no weapon for the pilot but for the mech, it’s pretty packed:

– Shoulder-mounted auto-cannon.

– Grenade Launcher.

Some of you might called the weapons with different names, well we both could be right, but for this review I’m gonna use the terms above.

09

First, the shoulder-mounted auto-cannon. As you could see on the picture bellow, both the right side and the left side of the Laurel mech have some peg holes in which you could plug the auto-canon unto. I chose to plug the auto-canon  unto the left side pegholes. The auto-canon would fit unto the peg holes firmly, that’s great!

13

Next, the grenade launcher. One thing that I really love about the Acid Rain World line in general is the ability of every single figures to grip and hold its weapon firmly. And it turns out that the Laurel Mech is no exception! Just like all Acid Rain figures, Laurel mech’s hands are made of rubbery material that could grip the grenade launcher firmly, as you see on the picture bellow.

14.jpg

Here is how you could display the Marine Type Laurel Mech. Even if you are not into Acid Rain World line in general, if you were fans of anything mech or 1/18th scaled military or sci-fi figure, I suggest you get your hands on this one before the price is getting even more higher. At the time I published this review, you could purchase this goodness for around $100 more or less from ebay.

15.jpg

Summary: (9.5/10) At 1/18th scale, this is a wonder!

Pros:

(+) Great paint job and details both on the pilot figures or the mech itself.

(+) Great working weapons. And the mech could grip it really well.

(+) Great articulations and balance for a 1/18th scaled mech.

(+) Cockpit area could accommodate the pilot figure really well..

Cons:

(-) Just the design, but apart from I don’t like its cockpit being opened like that, it’s mostly personal taste, really.

Thanks for reading my review and I do welcome all your feed-backs.

For my next review, it would be the first Japanese made figure to be reviewed in this blog. Stay tuned, buddies! 😉

Oritoy Acid Rain World The B.U.C.K.S. Team Jack

Greetings fellow toy buddies!

Now I’m gonna review another Acid Rain World (ARW) figure, I know it’s kinda late since the figure have been released for a while, I hope it’s still relevant for those who are new to this toyline.

There are five members of B.U.C.K.S. team but I could only reviewed two of them. I’ve reviewed Steel before, and on this occasion, I’m reviewing my favorite B.U.C.K.S. team member, Jack. You can learn more about the character here.

Okay, let’s get to the point, here is the unboxed Jack. Just like my Steel review, I love the box art!

01

Now let’s unbox this goodness, recently all ARW figures got a same foam packaging with one compartment. I’m not really fond of this since in the foam packaging could not keep the smaller accessories in place. It’s not a big problem during shipping though, at least my Jack figure arrived perfectly, still a different and individualized foam packaging for each character would be esthetically better even though it means we have to pay extra :p

02

Okay, let’s take a look at the figure. Jack is looking great, the paint applications are neat, ARW standard (which is great). The figure wore a unique vest not used in previous ARW figures with five, yeah five pistol holsters attached to it. It is clear to me that this dude is a gunslinger or an adept of gun fu, that’s how I imagined the character would be anyway.

Just like most ARW figures from Agurts faction, Jack is also made of similar parts of all previous ARW figures of Agurts faction. Still, the headsculpt and vest itself are enough to make the figure looks different than your run of the mile Agurts Infantry or Sol Commanders, those and the B.U.C.K.S emblem on it’s left shoulder.

03

Now let’s take an even closer look. Jack has a unique, all new headsculpt featuring long, spiky gray hair and unique gas mask. I really like the headsculpt since it made the figure stand out amongst the other ARW figures, give it more unique feels and personality.

04

Articulations of this figure is good, just like any ARW figures have, so wide range of posing and good figure balance are pretty much guaranteed! The pistol holsters are made of softer, rubery materials so it would not hinder the motion range of the legs by much. Take a good care of the holster while you are moving it though, you would not want to snap off the holster.

05

Jack came with 5 unique pistols accessories which have never been released or used by any ARW figures before.

06

Here is the closer look of the pistols. I’m glad we didn’t those bulky pistols from Agurts Infantry figure, if this guy is a gunslinger, he would need at least unique looking pistols, and what we got in here is good!

07

I put all the pistols in its’ holsters, looking good. The pistols fit the holsters well, and firmly, I even tried to hold the figure by it’s leg, reversed it and shook the figure, the pistols didn’t fall of the holsters. Great!

This one is how the front empty and filled holsters looks.

08

And this is how the empty-filled back holster looks.

09

Okay, now let’s get to the point which I always wanted to do ever since I heard of this figure, posing it.

Jack the gunslinger is really fun to pose! The ARW great range of articulations really helps! These are just a fraction of examples of poses you could do with your Jack figure. I’m not gonna flood this review with pics of posing Jack, I got my instagram for that 😉

10

Yeah even the regular standing poses looked great. Two pics bellow are how I pose my Jack figure in my display.

11

Summary: (9/10) He is simply one helluva young, good-looking post-apocalyptic gunslinger!

Pros:

(+) Great design, paint job and details both on the figures, accessories, and the boxart.

(+) Great working weapons.

(+) Works great and fit well with Acid Rain World vehicles, other figures, and weapons.

(+) Great articulations and balance for a 1/18th scaled action figure.

Cons:

(-) I wish the holsters were glued unto the vest with stronger glue, I heard some of my friends have their Jack’s holsters snap of while posing it.

Thanks for reading my review and I do welcome all your feed-backs.

My next review would be my first vehicle review, or in a correct technical term, a mech, still from the very same post-apocalyptic world as my current review, stay tuned 😉

Here are some shots of Acid Rain World The BUCKS Team Jack!

The box art poses or that Winter Soldier Black Widow pose? You’re the judge!

Marvel Legends Infinite Series Movie Ant-Man

Greetings fellow toy buddies!

As I hinted on my last review I would like to review something that’s not in the hype anymore, duh. Yeah I know it’s a bit late, but here it is Marvel Legends Infinite Series Movie Ant-Man! The movie’s pretty good and funny, if you haven’t watched it, I suggest you to watch it before it disappeared from cinemas.

For this review, please pardon the low quality of the pictures since I was using my cellphone to get all the pictures. Okay, let’s take a look at the Marvel Legends Infinite Series Movie Ant-Man unboxed.

01

As you see, the figure came with the standard Marvel Legends Infinite Series packaging with Movie Ant-Man artwork on the side. Now let’s open and take a closer look on the figure:

02

The Ant-Man figure looked good, it captured the loose look of movie Ant-Man costume well enough and apparently made of newer parts. The one that I got is also neatly painted.

03

The details on the head is also good, especially on the helmet. I wish we could get the closed mouth version just like in the movie and the separate Scott Lang’s head without helmet, but I think it’s asking too much. The paint on the eyes part is a bit of though, it should be as red as the torso not orange.

04

The articulation of this Movie Ant-Man figure is good, as what you expect of today’s Marvel Legends. You could do many poses with the figure, but still there is one problem that bugged me, the one that I probably mentioned many times in my previous reviews… the gummines of the plastic. Yeah it really bugged me, actually I did buy another movie Ant-Man figures just because the plastics on the legs are way too gummy to the point that if I tried to move the knee joint, I might tear the leg. I do hope Hasbro would take note of this and do better for future releases. I don’t mind a slight price raise if it means we’re getting a sturdier, more decent material for our figures.

05

Marvel Legends Infinite Series Movie Ant-Man came with:

– 1 mini Movie Ant-Man mini figurine

– 1 mini Movie Anthony mini figurine

– 1 mini Movie Yellow Jacket mini figurine

– 1 BAF Movie Ultron head

06

The Movie Yellow Jacket is quite good for an approx 1 cm tall mini figurine. The paint apps are neat, details are quite good, and, to my surprise, the figure’s balance is good!  I don’t expect any articulations from a figurine this small but if you put some creativity into it even a 1 cm figurine could be fun to take shots at.

07

Movie Ant-Man’s accessories are mostly mini figurines, you also got the Movie Ant-Man and Movie Anthony here. I have no complains about the details or the paint apps but the Ant-Man figurine has worse balancing than the Yellow Jacket figurine, it could be due to the Ant-Man figurine is made to sit on Anthony figurine, just like you see at the picture bellow. The movie Anthony figurine is quite good, if only the wings are transparent it would be even better.

08

As for the BAF Movie Ultron’s head, since I don’t like the movie Ultron I’m gonna use it like this.

“Stark didn’t made you Ultron, Pym did.”

09

Okay, we got a decent movie Ant-Man figure from Marvel Legends line here.

10

Summary: (7/10) A decent Movie Ant-Man figure, extra gummy!

Pros:

(+) Good design, paint job and details both on the figures and accessories.

(+) Exciting mini figurines accessories, especially to take shots at.

Cons:

(-) Just like some of the recently released Marvel Legends figure, gummy materials. I do hope future releases would made of sturdier materials or anything that allow you to move the figure without risk of destroying or yanking the joints.

(-) Unmasked Scott Lang’s alternate head would be a good additional accessories. The current helmet head design is not that accurate to the movie version.

Thanks for reading my review fellow toy buddies, as always I do welcome feedbacks.

For my next review, I’ll bring you another character from the Acid Rain World, stay tuned 😉

Ant-Man is a superhero that could change its body size, in this case it could get smaller, which means you could take shots of the figure without using forced perspective technique or arranging the backdrops to be ‘in size’ with your figure, you could take shots of the figure practically anywhere, and just said “The Ant-Man is in his small mode” or something :p

Here are some shots that I did.

“Alas, poor ultron”

11

” Big little man in a big world”

12

“Here we go, Anthony!”

Oritoy Acid Rain World The B.U.C.K.S. Team Steel

Greetings to you fellow toy buddies!

I’m back with another review, and just like I’ve hinted in my last review, it would be a 1/18th scaled action figures. This review came out a bit too late, yeah I got really busy with my current job to the point that I had to keep some of my newer lots boxed until now.

Some of you might be new to this line or just heard about it recently, while some of you, like me have been waiting for this figures to be released since its sneak peek a year ago. Yes, the figure I’m about to review is Steel from B.U.C.K.S. team of Kit Lau’s Oritoy Acid Rain World line!

For more detailed information about the B.U.C.K.S. team or the Acid Rain World toyline itself, please go to this blog.

Here is Steel of The B.U.C.K.S. team, unboxed!

01

Really nice box art we got here! Another nice thing I spotted on the box is this BUCKS team ignisia, nice little touch to the box design.

02

Okay, now I’m unboxing the Steel action figure, let’s see what we got here… 03

Just like most Acid Rain World figures, the figure is packed nicely and safely with a foam, but unlike Agurts Infantry or Sol Commander, this Steel figure didn’t have separate spaces for helmet and weapons, instead we got one long space for all it’s accessories.

Let’s take a closer look on the figure itself.

04

Okay, now let’s see the figure itself. Just like all Acid Rain World figure, Steel is based on Sol Commander’s torso with many distinctive additional accessories. Paint applications are very neat and beautifully rusty. From glances, Steel got a brand new vest, belt, sculpted gas mask, helmet with ‘S’ ignisia on front, and a hood. Steel also got a fabric made undercoat so it would not hinder the leg’s movement much.

Let’s take an even closer look.

05I love the new look! It make Steel much more distinctive than those regular joes of Acid Rain World (SolComs & Agurts).

Steel has a removable helmet… or it shouldn’t be removable helmet and I broke mine :/

Well, just look at the picture bellow, let’s assume the helmet aren’t supposed to be removable.

06

Steel is very well articulated, just like almost every Acid Rain World figure, the design of the vest slightly limit the torso’s movement though.

Articulations or paint applications aside, the recent Acid Rain figures have slightly inferior material compared to the earlier releases. I have to get replacement feet for my Steel since the first one broke at the swivel joint. Let’s hope similar issue didn’t happen with future releases.

07

Acid Rain World The BUCKS Team Steel came with:

– 1 Rocket launcher

– 3 Detachable rockets

– 1 Rocket compartment

– 1 Rocket launcher harness

– 1 Rocket compartment to body connector

No small arms? No problem, if you have even one Agurts Infantry, you could give Steel one of the pistols or rifles. Still I wish the figure came with at least one unique small arms we’ve never got before. :p

08

Okay, now we’ll take a closer look to all these accessories. First, the rocket launcher. Since Steel is made as a heavy weapon guy, it’s imperative that it got a decent heavy weapons. The rocket launcher is quite nicely detailed though a bit simple. The given rockets could fit unto the launcher firmly, not too firm that you’ll have hard trouble removing it and not too loose that you’ll have the rocket fall apart so easily, nice one!

09

The rocket compartment could also held the additional/reserve rockets well. Yeah it’s a bit few, there are only three rocket shots, but it’s realistic, could you imagine a heavy weapon guy carrying like 20 rockets everywhere on the battlefield? Nah…

10

As for both the rocket launcher’s harness and the compartment’s connector, just take a look at the picture bellow. To summarize it, it worked out well!

Really well, event with all accessories attached, the figure could stand still without any support or problems. Good balance, sir!

11

If you didn’t dig the rocket compartment on back look, you could also pose the Steel figure like this, carrying the rocket compartment by hand.

12

You could pose the Steel figure unto firing rocket launcher position quite well, and thanks to wide range of arms articulations, you could also pose the figure unto reloading gesture.

13

As I said before, Steel lacked small arms to protect himself (Shooting enemy infantry with rocket launcher is way overkill, let’s accept that fact).

So I gave mine one of those Agurts’ assault rifle.

You could pose it with Steel quite well, again I’m amazed with this figure’s balance, even with all those launchers and compartments being put on!

14

This is the vanilla-esque all geared up look of Steel.

15

Summary: (8.5/10) Finally, one of the non-generic army building figure of Acid Rain World universe have been released!

Pros:

(+) Great design, paint job and details both on the figures and accessories.

(+) Great working weapons and accessories.

(+) Works great and fit well with Acid Rain World vehicles, other figures, and weapons.

(+) Great articulations and balance for a 1/18th scaled action figure.

Cons:

(-) Nothing major, but it could do a unique small arms (BUCKS Team exclusive pistol or sumthin’?)

(-) Build material problems on leg, at least happened on mine. I do hope this won’t happen with future releases.

Thanks for reading my review and I do welcome your feed-backs.

There are lots and lots of Marvel Legends wave released these days. Some of my next reviews would cover some of those newer Marvel Legends, stay tuned 😉

Designer’s Series Greg Capullo Talon

Greetings fellow toys buddies, and Merry Christmas for those who celebrates it and Happy New Year 2015!

I’m back with another action figure review, and on this occasion it’s another new line that I collect (Yeah I collect 7 lines now… duh… :/ )
As you might knew I recently collected Marvel Legends & Marvel Select lines, Yes I am into Marvel comics. And DC comics either, I don’t take sides for any of the big two as I did spend some good time reading both of them growing up. I like them both.

One of the most recent lines that I collect is the DC Collectibles Designer’s Series Greg Capullo line. There are many DC action figures out there, there are many lines from both DC Collectibles and Mattel. Of all good DC action figures lines out there, I’ve chosen solely the Designer’s Series Greg Capullo for my collection because of two reasons: 1. I have to pick one of the best looking-articulated-detailed line. 2. I was a Spawn collector and still a Spawn reader, so I’m no stranger to Greg Capullo’s artworks.

So, here are the first DC Collectibles Designer’s Series Greg Capullo figures that I bought, I’m unboxing it for this review. It is a figure of an assassin from The Court of Owls. The Talon.

Let’s see how good or bad the packaging of this line is. Since this is the first figure I’ve reviewed for this line, I’m gonna prattle a bit about the packaging. Here is the figure unboxed.

01

We got clear mica parts on the front and side part of the box, giving us a nice view of the figure inside, and we got an artwork of the character inside of the box at the other side of the box. The back part of the box showed all other figures released on the current wave.

It’s not a bad box design, it’s good but don’t looked as good as Hasbro’s Star Wars Black Series 6″ boxes. But it is surely much more sturdier, yes, the box is made of better and not so easy to rip materials. The packaging is quite simple overall, not bad. If you were a MOC/MIB collectors, this would still looked good for you to display.

Okay, now I’m unboxing this figure, here is the Greg Capullo’s Talon recently unboxed.

02

The figure looked really good. The paint applications and finishing are really neat overall. The Talon itself is not a bright colored characters and DC Collectibles captured the looks well. Look at the throwing knifes belt, the Court of Owls badge, and the gloves, the details are really good and neatly painted!

This Greg Capullo line figures are made of

03

Let’s take a closer look on the figure. The details on the hood are also great and neatly painted. I wish the figure came with removable hood, but this is acceptable, at least it looked really good. The Court of Owl badge on the bandolier also looked great.

04How about the articulations?

Usually action figures of DC line didn’t interest me since they are generally not as articulated as Marvel Legends or Marvel Select counterparts, yeah lot’s of Mattel and most DC Collectibles action figures are lacking ball-jointed legs. The Arkham Assylum or Injustice line looked really good, but swivel-jointed leg in 2014? Not for me.

Lucky for me, this Greg Capullo line has better articulated figures than other lines. Yes, my Talon figure has ball-jointed legs now… even though the joint itself has very limited motion range compared to Marvel Legends or Marvel Select line. It kinda sucks for me, but this is an improvement.

05

Okay, to compensate its lack of articulations, Greg Capullo Series Talon came with some cool accessories:

– 2 machetes.

– 2 knifes.

– 1 Court of Owls mask (No, it’s not wearable!).

– 1 non-removable throwing knife bandolier.

– 2 non-removable machete sheath

– 1 non-removable knife holster.

06

The knife holster worked well with the given knifes, but do be careful when you’re moving the arms or the torso, the knife could bend quite easily.

07

The machete sheaths also worked well, it could hold the machete firmly in addition to make your Talon figure looked even meaner.

08

The Court of Owls mask is not wearable, but you could still use it for some poses such as this one.

09

This is another thing that I like from this figure, it could hold its weapons firmly in both hands! If only the figure were more articulated, you could reenact some cool combat scenes from the comic book.

10

Both knifes or machetes, the figure could hold it really well!

11

Okay, this is for some of you who like to do action figure crossovers (DC vs Marvel?). I compared the Greg Capullo Series Talon with a regularly sized Marvel Legends figure. As you could see on the picture bellow, the Talon figure is around a head taller, roughly 7 inches tall. If you really wanted to do some crossovers, best do it with Marvel Select figures which are mostly around 7 inches tall.

12

Overall, this is a solidly made figure with great details but kinda mediocre articulations for 2014/2015 standards. Still if you were into Greg Capullo’s art and wanted to see his characters materialized in 3D form, go collect this line!

13

Summary: (7/10) Mediocre articulations are its only downside!

Pros:

(+) Great sculpt, details, and paint applications.

(+) Good working accessories.

Cons:

(-) I wish the figure were as well-articulated as a Marvel Legends figure.

(-) The figure and its accessories are made of hard but kind of brittle materials. Be careful when posing or displaying it!

Thanks for reading my latest review fellow toys collector.

For the next review, stay tuned for more 1/18th scale surprises!

Kaiyodo Micro Yamaguchi Revol Mini 4″ Metal Gear Solid Solid Snake

Greetings fellow collectors,

I’m back with another action figure review. This one is the very first Japanese made/designed action figures ever to be reviewed in my blog.

Well, I’m not all Western-minded in action figures collecting, but character-minded. It is possible to see some SHFiguarts or Medicom action figures review on my blog in the near future. As long as I like the character well enough, there is a good chance that I’m gonna buy the figure!

Okay, on this occasion, I’ll review the newest line from Kaiyodo Revoltech, Kaiyodo Micro Yamaguchi Revol Mini 4″ Metal Gear Solid Solid Snake or in short Revol Mini Solid Snake.

Let’s take a look at the mint in box figure!

01

Please pardon the dented box, thanks to the dedicated mailing courier… *sigh*

Okay, I couldn’t say I like the design of the box, just look at it. Pink. It’s not just my personal taste, imagine you were going to a toy store and seeing this box from distance, those pinks would send you a false message, keeping you from the cool action figure inside the box!

Overall the box is informative enough, the back of the box showed you pretty much everything your Solid Snake figure could do. The 001 on the box means that this is the first Revol Mini figure in the whole line.

Okay, now I’ve unboxed the figure, let’s see what we’ve got here.

02

The Revol Mini figure is packed with many accessories, including display stands and interchangeable hands. Wow!

Okay, we got a nicely packed action figure with loads of accessories here, now let’s take a closer look on the figure itself.

03Overall, this is a good looking figure! The paint applications finishing is quite nice but still a bit bland, but the details on wrinkled part of Solid Snake’s uniform are quite awesome. The figure itself could stand properly but in a slightly odd fashion, it has something to do with the many articulation points and wide range of motion that this figure had.

Let’s take an even closer look…

04

The details on the figure’s face are really nice, but I don’t really dig the anime-esque look, I prefer the realistic ones but hey this is what Kaiyodo made or us.

Here is an interesting detail, just like what you see on the back part of the box, the figure has articulated eyeballs! Yeah, the eyeballs could move. For a toy of this size it could be categorized as a ‘toy engineering feat’ but also an inconvenience for me. Yeah, it’s kinda hard to put the eyeballs on the proper position, mostly you’ll end up with misaligned eyes or blank white eyes. Perhaps it was just me, still this is a really cool feature. All you have to do is try to snap the figure’s face off and align those eyeballs!

Japanese 6 inches action figures are known for being even more possible than their western counterparts (SHFiguarts, Figma, Revoltech, etc). This Revol Mini Solid Snake action figure stands around 4 inches tall, with the same articulation points and wide range of motions, just like the 6 inches Revoltech figure.

05

Okay, we got a highly articulated figure, cool! Now let’s see about its accessories.

Revolmini Solid Snake came with:

– 1 in-game accurate FAMAS Assault Rifle

– 1 in-game accurate SOCOM Pistol

– 1 in-game accurate Claymore mine

– 1 in-game accurate binocular.

– 1 cigarette (Very easy to be lost! Make sure to take care of yours as good as you can!)

– 1 white paddle-like thing (I’m not sure what this is for, but I use it to move the eyeballs after opening the head/face part).

– 1 removable empty holster.

– 1 removable pistol-holding holster (Non-removable).

– 1 pair of clenched fist hand.

– 1 pair of weapon-wielding hand.

– 1 rifle-wielding right hand.

– 1 cigarette-holding left hand.

– 1 clear plastic static base.

– 1 clear plastic dynamic/action base.

06

Plenty of accessories, right? I’m quite satisfied with all those accessories, but I would be even more satisfied with even more game-accurate accessories. Where is the PSG-1 Sniper Rifle? The Stinger? Or the Nikita guided-missile launcher? I wish there would be an accessories pack for this figure, containing all game accurate goodness.

First, I’m gonna try the removable holster. It could snap on and off the holes on the leg firmly and quite easily. This is a good minor details, you could use the pistol-holding holster for all-geared up look, or the empty holster if you were posing your solid snake with the SOCOM pistol, just for realism sake. 😉

07

Next, let’s see how natural could the Revolmini Solid Snake do a smoking pose with its cigarette-holding hand.

As you can see on the picture bellow, the smoking pose is quite natural!

08

Next, let’s try posing the figure with the Claymore mine!

Even the very well articulated figures such as this one couldn’t do a crouching mine laying pose, but this kneel mine laying pose is good enough for me.

09

Okay, where moving on to the binocular. There is a small peghole on one of the right hand. It fit the binocular peg quite nicely and allowing you to pose a proper binocular-holding pose.

10

Okay, now we’re talking about things that matters. The primary weapons.

The Solid Snake figure could hold both the SOCOM pistol and FAMAS rifle well.

You could remove the silencer on the SOCOM pistol if you want. As for the FAMAS rifle, it is a bit too bulky but still wield-able by the figure. Being such a bulky weapon, I wish the FAMAS rifle had more feature, such as removable magazine.

11

Okay, Solid Snake didn’t do this in game as far as I know of, but this is the ‘gun-bristling all geared-up’ pose of RevolvMini Solid Snake!

12

Kaiyodo gave us two kinds of standbases for this Revol Mini Solid Snake figure. While the figure could stand properly on its own, it would be better and safer if you pose the figure in your shelves with its standbases.

First, the static standbase. It’s just like the GI Joe standbases, it serves to display your figure in a non-dynamic pose in your shelves. You could still pose your figure in dynamic/action poses though.

13

Next, the adjustable dynamic standbases! Just as its name, this is the standbase you use when you wanted to make some action, jumping, or more extreme poses in general. If only the standbases came with two foot holders, you could do extreme poses from your wildest imaginations.

14

Okay, some of you might be really excited that Revol Mini lines is made in 4 inch or roughly one-eighteenth/one-seventeenth scale.

So, I took this shot of Revol Mini Solid Snake and modern GI Joe figures together. Well, the Revol Mini couldn’t really blend into the GI Joe line, the figure is simply too tall, even taller than that gigantic Retaliation Ultimate Roadblock figure.

Even though Revol Mini Solid Snake didn’t really fit with your GI Joes, rest assured for there is already this guy to play your Solid Snake with, and perhaps more Metal Gear Solid figure would be released for Revol Mini line in the near future.

15

Okay, we came to the end of my current review. Have fun with this Revol Mini figures if you got yourself one! 😀 16

Summary: (8/10) If you like the good old PSX Metal Gear Solid game, or 4 inches articulated action figures, get your hands on this!

Pros:

(+) Great sculpt and articulations. The figure is very well articulated!

(+) Loads of game accurate accessories! For a $25 figure I wish it came with other in-game weapons such as Nikita rocket launcher or PSG-1 sniper rifle.

Cons:

(-) The paint job is a bit bland to my taste, I personally didn’t like the manga/anime look of the head sculpt, wish they made the realistic version.

(-) The figure is made of sturdy materials, but the articulated parts are kind of easy to get loose.

Thanks for reading my latest review fellow toys collector.

The clue for my next review is ‘Greg Capullo’ 😉

Star Wars The Black Series 6″ Clone Trooper Phase 1

Greetings fellow toy buddies,

Recently I’ve just received my newest figures from Black Series 6 inch line containing Anakin Skywalker, Clone Trooper Phase 1, Stormtrooper, and Boba Fett. I sold the reissued Boba Fett and Stormtrooper to my friends, I already had those two and for this line I’m purely a completist, not army builder.

Those who used to collect the 3.75″ Star Wars clone troopers should know that Hasbro is using the clone trooper phase 1 body for so many other characters, including those phase 2 clone troopers and commanders. We all hoped that this Black Series Clone Trooper Phase 1 figure would be a good figure for future uses, or hope that Hasbro would make an improvement or retool if the figure is bad, so on this occasion I’d like to review the Clone Trooper Phase 1 figure from Star Wars Black Series 6 inches line.

Here is The Black Series 6 inches Clone Trooper Phase 1 mint in box!

01

FYI this wave Clone Trooper Phase 1 included in would be the last wave with this box design. Hasbro is changing the box design for the Darth Vader wave.

I’ve unboxed the figure, let’s take a closer look.

The figure stand at roughly 6 inches tall, packed with some accessories and looked great on its packaging.

02

Overall the sculpt looked great and the figure came with two signature clone trooper weapons. Now we’ll take a closer look on the figure.

The figure is very well sculpted! I love how Hasbro got the ball-jointed leg right, so what we’ve got here is not the enlarged 3.75″ ball-jointed leg clone trooper with odd standing pose, but all new sculpt and tooling.

03The head sculpt is also nice and accurate enough. Sculpt wise, this is a very nice and movie accurate figure, sadly the paint application is not as great as the sculpt.

04As you see, at both knee joints and elbow joints the black paint is quite untidy. I heard from a friend of mine that this also happened with Black Series 6 inch Stormtrooper and Sandtrooper. Dear Hasbro, please take quality control more seriously, we got a nicely sculpted Clone Trooper figure here, all we ask is nice and tidy paint applications.

05

Okay, now we’ll see about the articulation points. As you could see on the picture bellow, Clone Trooper Phase 1 is a very well-articulated figure. Of course the motion range is somewhat a little restricted due to the bulky armor pieces, but overall this Clone Trooper Phase 1 has a wide motion range for posing, thanks to its articulation points.

06

Now, after owning every single released Black Series 6 inch figure (Hey, I’m trying to keep my vow as a completist for this line!) and reviewed a number of them, there is a difference between materials used for the previous Star Wars Black Series and the newest line. The newest line figures(Clone Trooper Phase 1, Anakin Skywalker) are made of  more elastic, gummier materials, just like the newer line of Marvel Legends (Infinite Series). Well, this is kinda sucks. Gummy material means there is a possibility that the joints could be sprained or twisted from moving the figure. Just like the newest Marvel Legends line, if you had the time and money, you better buy more than one for each figures to get the best one (I did buy my Marvel Legends Infinite Series Guardians of The Galaxy Star-Lord and Nova twice).

Okay, I said before that the Clone Trooper Phase 1 came with two signature clone trooper weapons, namely:

DC-15A blaster rifle, Clone Trooper Phase 1 screen-accurate weapon.

DC-15S blaster, commonly used by Clone Trooper Phase 2.

07

With these two weapons, you could make your Clone Trooper Phase 1 figures varied in equipment, that’s if you were army building this figure.

The Clone Trooper Phase 1 could held the DC-15A blaster rifle with two hands well. Thanks to wrist and double jointed elbow articulations, it shouldn’t be hard for you to get the figure into shooting pose.

08

The same could be said for the DC-15S blaster. One thing to note, the weapons are made of even gummier material than the figure. Try your best to not disfigure the weapon while you are using it for posing with your figure.

09

Now that we came to the end of this review, I’m giving you an example of how you could pose your Clone Trooper Phase 1 figure.

10

Summary: (8/10) Now this is a decent Clone Trooper Phase 1 to make all other clone trooper figures and commanders!

Pros:

(+) Great all new movie accurate sculpts and details.

(+) The figure is very well articulated. The armored parts of the figure slightly restrict the motion range, but not significant

Cons:

(-) The paint job is quite untidy on some parts.

(-) The figure is made of gummier materials than the previous waves, the weapons are even more gummier.

Thanks for reading my latest review fellow toy buddies.

My next review would be a Japanese figure, yes it would be the first Japanese figure reviewed on this blog.

Here is some shots of my Black Series 6 inches Clone Trooper Phase 1
